Do any Freepers remember when back in the 80's, President Reagan would call some random service member on a holiday, and talk to him for a bit. Well, when I served on one ship as an RM, the OS's from CIC called down to us and said they just sent a boot camp deckhand to us in Radio Central, saying that Reagan called and wanted to speak to him. So this boot camp shows up at our door, and we set up a phony phone circuit with CIC and someone up there impersonated Reagan and talked to this guy for a few minutes.
I wonder if this is the same thing. That Biden is getting pranked.

This is beyond laughable.
“...I'm sorry, does anyone actually believe that Joe Biden is taking phone calls from Macron or Zelensky and giving out “advice” to Europe's leaders? Who in the world would want the advice of a senile cancer patient who doesn't know what year it is?...”
To: Red Badger
They’d be better off calling General Milley, and that’s not really an improvement.

Sad is exactly right. I can see people calling and asking for connections to people who might have held power when Democrats still held some power. Having a Rolodex is still a big deal. But hope won’t give anyone any real leverage, though it must make Biden still feel important. And some of the calls are probably commiseration because they shared his political viewpoint and they like thinking they can directly call the former president of the US. The current one probably doesn’t take their calls.

Grandmother used to get elderly prankster calls in the 60’s. I always thought it was a unique circumstance. Never realized there was a pattern.

Old telephone joke:
But the best joke for children of the 1930s involved a tobacco tin. Prince Albert was a very popular brand of tobacco first made in 1907. It was named for the future king of England, Edward VII (called “Albert” by his family), and his picture was on the front.
It was packaged in a rectangular red tin container with a flip lid. Since many tobaccos were sold in bags, not tins, it was special. The ultimate joke, still quoted today, is a child’s call to a drugstore: “Do you have Prince Albert in a can?” The druggist’s answer, “Yes,” was followed by the young prankster’s response, “Then let him out,” followed by peals of laughter.

Another old telephone joke:
Prankster calls a local grocery store.
Prankster: “This is {made up name} from the Electric company, are your refrigerators running?”
Store Employee: Yes, they are.
Prankster: “Well you better catch them before they get away!”..................
