One interesting thing about China’s space budget they are trying to increase is that it may be a sheep in wolve’s closing for them and may be a gift to the world.
While China’s space budget is partially opaque, it’s believed that funding for its lunar program may be integrated with larger military budgets, suggesting lacking further resource availability. The Chinese government is the direct opposite of being people oriented as they are willing to take away the concerns of the people for their pet projects.
But by using military funds for space travel, which may be a good way to starve their people, they are a long way away from making it pay. Rural communities across China are starving. Food shortages have slammed the heartland and panic buying is erupting in towns that were once self-sufficient. Markets are empty, and shelves are bare. And what’s worse, local officials seem more concerned about controlling the narrative than solving the crisis. Jun 21, 2025
Hence my original point. With their massive population and being unable to feed their people, and even being willing to spend previously dedicated military earmarked funds, they are looking to the future while killing the present. But that’s the oriental mind.

The CCP does not care about the “people”. Everything in China is now part of the military. The CCP, and especially the CMC, are law unto themselves and who gets disappeared, arrested, investigated or purged is simply the power struggle currently going on after the downfall of Xi Jinping and the rise of General Zhang Youxia.
It does not matter how many people actually starve, since the CCP announced poverty and starvation was ended a few years ago.
The Chinese have historically sacrificed the present for the future. And having been around for over 3,500 years, they have been pretty successful.

“And having been around for over 3,500 years, they have been pretty successful executives”
Your initial post, one I took offence to, had the phrase, “You’ll be happy no doubt” Sounds like you not only determine they kill in their country by trading the present for the future but you approve of it saying they have been doing it for years successfully. You and I differ in that as I neither consider that a success or approve of its use to gain in other areas. Human life for space travel? Rather not go that route if we don’t have to.
We can’t stop China from killing their own people. But we don’t have to do the same thing for success in ours. The space program can wait until we can afford it without harming people. There are other top needs we prioritize like food, shelter, employment checks, older people, and medical care. China does not unless it furthers their attempt at world domination. And for them it’s hell bent for leather. Used to be call exploitation.
