It is reassuring to hope that US policy, as it is currently being conducted respecting Iran, might well reinforce our credibility with our allies, especially those allies in the Pacific under growing threat from China.

This development to some degree offsets the misguided policy of this administration respecting Ukraine that has almost certainly undermined our credibility with those Pacific rim allies.

Equally, it is refreshing to see China abandoning Iran, an ally or an ally of convenience, during Iran's hour of need which almost certainly weakens China's credibility with a range of allies of convenience wherever China has insinuated its presence around the world..
