Children giving testimony is just pandering, no matter who does it. They can only parrot things they are taught and have no original thoughts and valuable information.
Silliness.... Nobody would have dreamed of having a 9 year old address the legislature in the 1940s or 50s.
You haven’t been around many nine year olds lately. I agree with 1940s-50s nine year olds not being original, but these new models aren’t them. They are very original and quite informed.
“Children giving testimony is just pandering, no matter who does it.”
I agree, but you’re not going to make any friends saying OBVIOUS out loud here...and I should know.
People who are not genius-level often disbelieve what is right in front of their face when they hear a brilliant child speak. This girl has already won national math competitions, and is manifestly articulate well beyond her years. She is a living demonstration that really smart children are just as much "special needs" as those who have intellectual deficits.
She spoke about such motivated kids being able to meet their potential through school choice. That is not parroting someone else's opinion -- she has actually experienced it through competing against others in a difficult field.
What would our world be without child prodigies, like Mozart, Benjamin Franklin, John Stuart Mill, Blaise Pascal, Yo-Yo Ma, Tiger Woods? All of them started excelling before the age of 9.
