Well, I figured that out 1/2 century ago. My wife, a non gun person, upon visiting the 6th floor perch, blurted out that in no way did he kill Kennedy from there. An earlier shot, per her. Was the most common sense shot. Sooo, why the LATER shot?
She is a non gun person and you take her to tell the truth?
I thought the same thing when I visited. The car practically stopped underneath him to turn left. I thought the ONLY reason to wait was to get him in multiple gunman crossfire. . . but what do I know?

I’ve been on the 6th floor myself. I am a hunter and thought exactly the same thing. If it was me alone trying to make this shot I would have taken the infinitely easier one as the motorcade was coming directly toward the TSBD rather than waiting for it to round the corner leaving me with the much harder down and away shot. Heck you could take a couple from the front side and still have an opportunity for the down and away.
Crossing shots are always more difficult than straight on. You would even have a full view of him from the waist up. Easy peasy.
With that being the reality, there needs to be some reason to wait. I’m pretty sure that I know what that reason is.
