DOGE says it deactivated 500K govt credit cards in latest audit update

WASHINGTON (TNND) — DOGE in February uncovered unneeded govt cards
<><>cardholders processed 90 million transactions,
<><>$40 billion total spending for fiscal year 2024.
<><>average transaction w/ a federal card was $441,
<><>data gleaned from the General Services Administration (GSA).

In its latest update on the audit process, DOGE expanded to 32 government agencies.
<><>found ~4.6M active cards/accounts.
<><>A graph showed 12 agencies listed at 90% audit completion or higher.
<><>Among them: the GSA, Dept of Ed and Social Security Administration.
<><>an X post in March indicated cards appeared suspicious
<><>had seemingly unlimited usage.
<><>found almost twice as many credit/purchasing cards as people in govt,
<><>the limits were $10,000
<><>a lot of shady expenditures
