The airlines’ deadline to check in is never clear to me in advance. The will says they “advise” passengers to arrive xx minutes before the flight leaves. The deadline varies depending on the airport so there is no hard and fast rule. There is a deadline to “check in” and another deadline to check your bags. Each airline and airport has its own rules, it is borderline impossible to know for sure. Add to that, most airports are in or near urban areas with unpredictable traffic. Your UBER might take 20 minutes to arrive when it is usually 10 minutes. Your driver could make a wrong turn. There might be no parking in the lot you are assuming you could park in. There might be a line 10 minutes long when you try to check in. Adding a $25 fee because your Uber dosn’t show up or there is construction on I-278 or there’s a home game at Citi Field makes people mad. I’ve actually never seen a 60 minute check in deadline. That being said the guy should have paid the fee, gotten his boarding pass, and THEN said “I hate this F***ing airline”.
