With “friends” like this, who needs the Democrat party?

I cannot, for the life of me, understand why a person who claims to be “Republican” has to stand in the schoolhouse door, like Governor George Wallace of Alabama did in 1963, to thwart the demonstrated will of America.

Maybe there is a constituency out there we know nothing about.

First, Governor Wallace was not a Republican.

Second, Governor Wallace was not governor of America; he was governor of Alabama attempting to enforce state law adopted by the Alabama legislature on behalf of the state's voters. He was doing the job he was elected to do.

Third, it is not clear that the “will of America” in 1963 was a colorblind society.

I will say this: forced integration at the point of federal bayonets was a noble experiment.
