Are people sure that Ocasio-Cortez would be a shoo-in for the Senate if she beats Schumer in the primary?

What if someone like Elise Stefanik chose to run on the Republican side? The race would come down to a Bronx Democrat radical against an upstate MAGA conservative. Given how close the Governor's race was with Lee Zeldin, might greater New Yorkers have had enough of the extreme left agenda by 2028 and choose Stefanik over Ocasio-Cortez?

I don’t think the Zeldin race was that close at 6.4% but certainly closer that one would expect in NYS. That being said, even given a dead NYS GOP organization, it is possible for Elise to beat AOC statewide, but everything would have to line up to overcome the severe disorganization of the state GOP party.

When Pataki ran the state party was in much better shape.
