You don’t want American patients fearing for their drugs (and lives) running wild in the streets or overwhelming the telephones lines to Congress.

Also, insurance companies expect to pay ~$X billion in 2025 for drugs.

Increasing what insurance companies have to pay for drugs by even 10% will send their lobbyists to Congress.

What needs to be done is to roughly equalize drug pricing among industrial countries.

Bear in mind Europe needs industry too. They get lots of goodies from Asia too.

We’re not out to hurt anybody. We just need adjustments to ensure our long-term economic future.

“What needs to be done is to roughly equalize drug pricing among industrial countries.”

Finally someone (you) came out and said it.

The way the current system works is medical companies make their big profits in the United States. The US market keeps the lights on.

You do make some profit in the other markets but nowhere near what you can in the US.

Essentially we have been subsidizing healthcare expenses for much of the world.

So when you get that $88,000 bill for one test or pay several thousand dollars for a month’s supply of insulin you are also paying for someone on the other side of the planet to get the same for much cheaper.

I work in a medical device factory BTW.
