I’m still not clear on these mysterious rare earths that we want from Ukraine. I hated chem in college but I remember that rare earths aren’t that hard to find - the problem is the low concentrations. We probably have more in the US than Ukraine does.

No, Zelensky signed up and agreed to the deal about 2 weeks ago already.
However Trump came up with a totally new version of a deal a few days ago.
That is what’s causing the confusion apparently.
They’ll have to sort it out.

So what can he do? The Ukrainians must have already found work-arounds after the last aid cut-off. And the current mineral deal obligates the Ukrainians to pay -in perpetuity- while gaining no security guarantees. Why would they agree when they get nothing?

It seems to me Trump is simply making the demands more and more unacceptable so he can just walk away. I understand that may be what he wants to do, but if so, he should give up the pretense of seeking "peace."

Zelensky, the Ukrainian oligarchs, American Congressman, NGO's, and defense contractors are making Billions off the money sent to allegedly fight the Russians.

Zelensky knows that once the gravy train stops and Ukraine and Russia sign a peace treaty, his usefulness as TEMU Churchill is over, and he knows what happens to Slavic leaders who have their power removed.
