Looks like the rest of our global trading partners need to rejigger their tariff laws as to make trade more favorable with the USA, while eating some crow after our subsidizing their trade for several decades. We’ll see how this plays out. As Trump said, it will be a little bumpy for the next few months or so....

“I deeply regret the US decision to impose tariffs on European automotive exports,” von der Leyen said in a statement released late Wednesday evening. “Tariffs are taxes — bad for businesses [and] worse for consumers equally in the US and the European Union.”

What does she think, that Americans are stupid and will just keep taking their taxes on us in the form of their Tariffs?

How do such STUPID people get in positions of leadership of countries???

Simple fix, build a building plant here, you bring the car maker here, the tariff ends, that simple

Exactly!

Or Quit using tariffs against the US to fix your broken Socialist countries by dropping your excessive tariffs and the U.S. tariffs go away.

Or leave all your stuff where it is and lower your tariffs (Mexico, Canada and EU) to something more reasonable, like 2.5%. Trump will reciprocate.

I’ve only owned one foreign made vehicle in my almost 60 years of driving. That was a 1968 VW Bug with the auto stick shift option. What a piece of crap! Always needed to be serviced for one thing or another. The one that is now funny but was not back then, was this.. One day I got a flat tire, so, ok no problem I had a spare. I opened the hood which is the trunk, and the damn spare was flat. I noticed a hose going from the tire valve to the windshield washer. The washer was powered by the air pressure from the tire! How friggin’ stupid is that? Another serious problem was the battery was under the back seat. A heavy person could make the springs get contact with the battery terminals. Never bought another foreign vehicle.

We k now it’s going to be tough to start, but as Americans make more money they can afford to buy stuff made in America.

You used to buy furniture made in the Carolinas, good solid furniture. All you can find now is crap built in China. Clothes made of materials milled in America that actually survives more than a few washes. Washers made in Ohio…I could go on and on. We had a middle class that was prosperous.

German automakers currently have 330 automotive suppliers in Mexico

Ha...and Schadenfreude is a German expression.

The reason that the Germans make cars in Mexico is because their woke and super Green economy doesn't have enough electricity.

They already demolished a nuclear power plant and several coal plants ..including one only a few years old.

Suck it up Germans

Go Woke go Broke.

The tooling and equipment to build the furniture in places like Hickory and High Point were literally boxed up and shipped to China in the ‘90s.

The factories are still there, brick buildings that are now empty and falling apart.

A perfect metaphor for the damage that Bush-Clinton-Obama globalism did to the US.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen just outed herself as a lying sociopath, saying “Tariffs are taxes — bad for businesses [and] worse for consumers equally in the US and the European Union.”

Really, you sociopath? We didn't hear a peep out of you when these countries slapped tariffs on U.S. goods.

Just a lying dog-face.

Yes, and it makes me really mad. Start bringing manufacturing back and soon young couples will start buying a house, then washers, dryers, refrigerators. Then those companies will hire people who will decide they can afford a family.

I remember when the middle class was the largest portion. We need that again.
