What do the Euros think the Statue of Liberty represents?
Certainly not liberty — then what?
So, they are now Indian Givers?
This idea of the statue...came up shortly after the Civil War, and a French intellectual wanted to honor the US ‘noble intentions’...ending slavenly. Within 11 years...the statue was designed and started.
I should point out....after the 1870 war with Prussia...France was evolving into a different mindset.
