With “free money” from Uncle Sugar, local school districts everywhere grew their number of useless “administrators” by ten times over four decades. Number of administrators is inversely proportional to student learning and achievement.

I live in MA. My town has the highest tax rate in the state.

No one is talking about cutting teachers in our town. The schools are always complaining about wanting more money—but there is nothing new about that.

But then again, we do not have a high illegal immigrant issue in our town.

The cost to bring in these immigrant kids into some of the worst school systems in the state is going to lead to some significant problems.

Cry me a river. Maybe now the “educators” will start WORKING. They seems always to have various classroom assistants, days off for “training”, holidays and summers. What bunch of pampered over-educated unionized slackers with low level “education” degrees.

Schools in Texas are not just property tax supported. Look at their annual budget and you will find a portion is property taxes (which are VERY high) but much is state and federal grants. At meetings they are always moving money from one federal grant to another to get pet projects done. Even when they are in the red....
When you look at the state cost of a student it’s in the $4k range but if you divide the entire budget by students it is nearly $10k....

Politicians are worried about who is going to harvest their food and clean their houses.

I wonder who is available for that?

False. The DOE is mostly bureaucrats, administrators, and analysts. Teachers are hired by the state through school districts, counties, and cities. And also by private institutions.

And many (most?) are starry eyed communists eager to indoctrinate young minds.

Son’s English/Literature professors at his university, are fair to poor. His STEM-related professors are good.
In my 11 years of college at three different universities, I can not recall even on memorable English/Literature/related professor. STEM professors? God yes! To this day, except for a UCBerkeley computer science professor who was so ho-hum, I can’t recall much of anything about him.
Most of the English/Lit/etc teachers seemed to be Dems based on what they said and assignments.

Excellent advice.

I have notice a recent trend in the last few years. On-line “doctorates in education.” University departments of education are cranking them out by the hundreds. And of course these new “Doctors” are being hired by public school systems and colleges and universities.

The only good thing that came out of Covid was the total exposure of the leftist pedophiles running our schools. What a bunch of lunatics.

Take the savings and give some of it to parents so they can send their kids to private schools.

Bullsh**.
Teacher got so much free time they can boink the students, hide propagandized gender “searching” 8 year olds, rail against anyone who wants them to perform optimally, make sure their “marginalized” students, and their families have food, shelter, and special programs, Then there are almost as many “administrators as so called “teachers”.
Teach?...oh, the computers do that.
The cutbacks are a long overdue course correction.

When US public schools rank almost dead last in the world in academic tests, perhaps firing the teachers is what’s needed to fix a broken system.

Wrong. Catholics are a part of the problem, not the solution. Open borders. Commie popes. Etc. Whatever the solution is, does not include catholics.

Here in New York, local Karens pass every school budget, no matter what the increase is. The public schools have more money than ever.

Hell, they even did a $5 million re-do for the high school football field and scoreboard

“Mass teacher layoffs are reshaping America’s education system”

Are they laying off teachers or administration and union slugs?

I’m talking about the nuns who managed to get classrooms of average kids literate, numerate and polite without “co-teachers”, “teachers’ aides”, etc., etc.

Of course the current Catholic church is largely extremely leftist.

Good.

Before you can build something better you must remove the mess left behind.
