I remember back in the early 70’s when the timber industry was thriving where I grew up on the Washington coast. Then the “spotted owl” protections kicked in and it totally decimated the wood products industry. So many people out of work and my uncle owned a wood products mill and suffered greatly because of this “protect the spotted owl” nonsense.
These timber companies know how to manage forests and re-plant so they have another crop in several decades. Trees are a crop. Plain and simple.
Isn’t this going to put a damper in California’s quest to burn down every year?
