If they move here they will no longer be paying taxes in their home country. Under President Trump’s proposed tax plan we will have among the lowest income tax rates of the developed world.
Many will also sign up to avoid paying U.S. tariffs. If Trumps tariff policy has it’s intended effect, there will be incentive for foreign companies that are reliant on the U.S. market to relocate here. If their companies relocate here, a significant number of CEO’s will want to relocate here, personally. They and their companies will then pay U.S. income taxes rather than income taxes in their home countries.
We already have something called the EB-5 visa. This will just take that basic concept and monetize it. As it currently stands, wealthy investors are eligible for green cards if they invest at least $1.5 Million in a business that creates at least 10 full time jobs that go to Americans or work authorized immigrants. The gold card takes that basic concept and adds a one time fee of $5 Million that goes directly into the coffers of the U.S. government.
It may sound like a radical idea but it’s really just a smarter version of an existing law.
