If they’re saving $3,000,000,000,000 and if you divide it by say, 300,000 households that means $10,000,000 per household.
I think $5,000 back is not burdensome.
That’s 300,000 X 5,000 or 1,500,000,000 actually only a small percentage of 3 trillion.

Probably better off rerouting the savings to those programs that could use it and paying down the national debt.
There is going to be a big problem with cutting out retired people. Many of them are not net tax payers. Most of them have seen their income seized by the feds over their working lives to fund this waste.
A better plan would be to right-size government to essential services and cut taxes and fund the remaining agencies appropriately. Use the savings to pay down the debt.
That’s OUR money so YES Im all for it..we should not have to pay taxes for 10 yrs after all the fraud and corruption they have done with OUR MONEY so yes Im all for this, I want my refund!
Some will say pay down the debt but the taxpayers aren't the one's that created that debt so why should their money be used to pay down politicians giveaways?
I agree - give it to ACTUAL tax payers, not earned-income credit bs or politicians, but ACTUAL EARNERS and TAXPAYERS!

Call it Reparations for Enslaved Taxpayers. Make it a percentage of total income taxes paid, capped at something like $1 million. Send every taxpayer a check for some amount, not necessarily $5K.
I could do a lot with that $5K. Like letting it sit long enough to have it grow to $7K.

I would much prefer the debt be reduced. There are probably millions of US citizens who spent 40 or 50 years paying federal taxes, but now are living on such meager retirement funds, they are no longer considered tax payers. They wouldn’t qualify for this rebate. We’ve watched what this corruption and graft has done to our country and would like to see tangible proof that the ship is being righted.
So, the the kid who got his first McDonalds job at age 16 that paid a couple hundred bucks in federal income tax will get the same 5k that a 65 y.o. small business owner who has paid a couple million in federal income taxes will get.
Gotta love those socialist redistribution ideas.
Cut off the spigot, prosecute the fraudsters, clawing back as much as possible, to include punitive damages, and put it all on the debt.
