How many billions of dollars would we save if Californicate left? We could charge them a steep tariff on everything they want to sell us.
If California can secede from U.S., then contiguous counties can secede from California.
I think the result would be that only L.A. county and San Francisco city/county and perhaps a few others would vote to secede.
We could then build a wall.
Barry Goldwater essentially said the same when he said we could cut all the bridges and tunnels and let Manhattan Island float out into the sea.
That was definitely my first thought get it done quickly before we have to deal with all your messes.
How about the rest of us vote to give california the heave ho and be done with them? The state has been a cesspool and trouble for decades now. I’m pretty sure I could live without them.
PLEASE LEAVE!
how about we drive the commies out and keep the real estate ...
Sounds like a plan. And a good one at that.
I propose that all that California can do is devolve there status as a state and when they do that they become a territory instead with a governor appointed by the federal government.
We should revert them Back to a territory.
They are bankrupt.
Democrats are such a tease.
Always getting my hopes up by making promises they never keep.
Like Ellen promised to leave if the Orange Man was elected and she’s back in a flash.
Same deal here, they’re not leaving, just begging to be bailed out from their utter incompetence.
I hope the commission remembers to count the replacement cost of all federal facilities, military, naval, and missile/space bases, airports, etc., and paying back federal funding of universities, research programs, dams, highways, harbors, waterways, railway projects, and thousands of other things. Ten trillion in gold might be a start. Plus the cost of the giant wall California should be required to build along the entire state border.
California to pick up all Social Security benefits, medicare, medicaid, federal welfare, EBT, retirement, housing, other benefits, etc.
Add the cost of changing the word “California” on any signage to “Starnesville”.
Great. Newsom gets to have his wildest fantasy - to be dictator of California without any federal restraints.
What will he do first? Erase the border with Mexico? Divert water to save endangered plants and fish so the fire hydrants are dry? Refuse to clear out underbrush on public lands leading to massive, destructive fires? Ban all internal combustion entigines?
Well, he's already done those things so what's next?
Ten minutes after secession it would be Chinese protectorate.
If it secedes do the 1861 response, then break it up into three to four new states.
Agree!
There are several states whose finances are so bad that should happen.
Good. Senate and House would expel all seceding members with 2/3 vote as in CW1.
Then, part of CA would secede from CA as did WVA from VA.
Then the president could appoint a military governor, who could make all the necessary reforms, voter ID etc. There would be a reconstruction period before readmission so that all necessary reforms could be implemented.
I really don’t know what CA’s military plan would be but I doubt it’s would be very formidable
Just a couple questions...
Will the people of California be voting using the same (or similar) dominion electronic voting machines that allow them to cheat?
Will they be employing any of the other known election cheating methods?
“... to allow the coastal strip to depart in peace ...”
Since a big chunk of our shipping puts in at LA, the supply chain would suffer the whims of an independent CA. Of course we could then impose a yuge tariff on goods from the independent country of CA ...
No, no, no. Time for this is past. Petition DJT for military protectorate. Declare martial law and replace all gov’mt officials with military officers. THEN, THEN, break state into five: 2 blue, 3 red.
The issue was settled for good 160 years ago. Jeff Davis avoided the rope. Gavin Newsom might not be so fortunate.
