Patrick rammed into Texas politics as a big-time outsider, ready to SHAKE UP AUSTIN.
Needless to say, the very highly cultured and staid Republican Establishment there assumed he’d be put in his place, meaning sent off to a corner and essentially disappear from the real bosses and then disappear for good in the next Primary.
Well, it didn’t quite work out that way, and now Patrick is the most powerful politician in Austin (the Governor is #2 here), so things are quite interesting with him around and I wouldn’t be surprised to see his name floated for 2028.
