In the early 70s I was in Germany. Heard a propeller plane, looked up, and it was a JU-52. Walked around the same area a few years ago. All Muzzis there now.

Germany’s going to need some Stukas for domestic use pretty soon.

"...Germany’s going to need some Stukas for domestic use pretty soon..."

No kidding.

I was at Oshkosh (I think) some years back, and saw one of those JU-52s...very odd looking with the sides that looked like the roof of a corrugated shed.

But they must have given reliable service, they never tried to develop an alternative that I know of, though I could be wrong there.

I think the Ford transport had the same corrugated metal fuselage.

The Germans did develop other transports during the war, but generally only produced small numbers either due to lack of material or lack of support from Berlin. The Arado 232 was a larger 4 engine transport with only 20 built, series production was scheduled for fall of 1945. Gotha 244 was a powered glider that made it into production. There were some large flying boats. They tried upgrades of the JU-52 (252 and 352) Perhaps the most successful large transport was the Condor (FW-200) a pre-war 4 engine airliner. Per Wiki, 276 of those were built (including the prewar planes).

It was all helo last night and they did an amazing job knocking down the Hollywood fire

Indeed, watched them most of the day and evening on plane-finder which matched up with the live video feed from the local networks in many cases.
