They waited for the busses to open the gates, and they stormed in. U.S. Attorney Alina Habba: “I can confirm that we have put the Mayor, Ras Baraka, under arrest… We will not stand for anybody getting in the way of getting rid of criminals in this country… He has been arrested and will be charged.”
Rep. LaMonica McIver was caught on video physically attacking law enforcement after storming New Jersey ICE facility. She currently has not been arrested.
OBSERVATION - Double this under Illegal Immigration. This is important here in that democrat civic leaders are openly participating and encouraging acts of violence (resistance) against the US govt. Monitoring to see if Rep. LaMonica McIver is arrested as well. Mayor Ras Baraka is already pleading the victim on his arrest. As the deportation train continues to pick up speed, violent acts like this can be expected to increase as well, attempting to garner greater support and generate BLM-like conditions for broader protests and riots.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has summoned a meeting of the National Command Authority — Pakistan’s top body overseeing its nuclear arsenal.
This marks the first publicly known meeting of the NCA since February 2019, taking place as Pakistan intensifies its counter-offensive under Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos.
Overnight, the conflict between Pakistan and India intensified with exchanges of drone and artillery attacks.
Pakistan said its forces had hit an Indian airbase, and other targets, in response to Delhi striking three of its bases.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shebaz Sahrif said his county has given a “befitting response” to India.
The Indian Army has announced the recruitment of thousands of reserve soldiers on a voluntary basis to support military operations in conflicts with Pakistan.
During a recently concluded press briefing with the Indian Army and Air Force, it was noted that Pakistan reportedly has begun moving units into “forward areas” and Indian spokespersons have said the move was done with “offensive intent.”

Following a very significant escalation in missile attacks by both sides, it appears there is an attempt to put the breaks on. Some indicators suggest that the initial request came from Pakistan. Claims of US intervention in negotiations as well.

The allegation that Trump may announce the recognition of a Palestinian state was enough to take my breath away. Hard to assess if this is fake news (JPost) or real. If real, this turns nearly all the joint Israeli / US efforts of late on their head. This could also seal rumors of a break between Netanyahu and Trump that’s been reported this past week.
To me it seems that Trumps middle east policy has had some consistency problems over the past month, primarily with engaging Iran and not involving Israeli imput. Also negotiations with other arab states and the push to force to some degree the Abramhamic accords.
From a clear biblical standpoint, a reversal like this puts America in peril. Is Trump tossing Israel under the bus to gain concessions, agreements with arab states in the region?

OBSERVATION - Very quick change since the meetings today were cancelled. What changed?
IRAN NUCLEAR COUNTDOWN - The removal of B2s and replacement by B52s at Diego Garcia indicates a step down in offensive readiness. A very capable system, the B52 lacks the penetration capability into hostile air zones as well as the ability to carry the Massive Ordnance Penetrator, GBU-57, necessary to hit Iran’s buried facilities. Trump’s guidance system on Iranian negotiations and policy seem to be vacillating, and that is dangerous. Is Trump committed to the prevention of Iran getting the bomb at all costs?
As far as everything else looks, time is short for significant moves by Iran to concede elimination of elements of its nuclear program that can lead to the development of a nuclear weapon.
A lot of the speculation will be ended by next Friday after Trump leaves the region and makes his big announcement.
Misc of Note –
Admittedly, the volume of international action of three wars, and the confusing and conflicting combat reports and geopolitical actions associated with them have pretty much overloaded my analytical capabilities in a way. What I can evaluate has given me significant unease.
- Ukraine: Peace or no peace. Support or no support. Continuation of a largely stagnated front line with Russian having clear control over the deep strategic attack front (drones and missiles) over Ukraine.
- Israel vs islamic fanatics. What the heck is the real story with Trump administration and middle east policy involving Israel? What is the real status of potential strikes against Iran’s nuclear program?
- Pakistan / India potential nuclear conflict
- Massive political scrum here in the US over a wide variety of issues.
It seems that the Trump pause in the action is long over and chaos is rapidly expanding once again. The global and domestic storms are getting closer once again and they are beginning to look even uglier.
Much hangs on Trumps visit to the various gulf states next week. It hopefully will bring clarity to one front burner issue that will directly impact the US - the status of Iran’s nuclear program and changes to the relations with Israel. Ukraine and India/Pakistan are second tier level issues.
If Trump screws up the middle east, things will start unraveling very quickly. Much of Trumps support are pro-Israeli who are anti two state solution. If Trump recognizes a Palestinian state, the giant sucking sound will be his support base leaving him. That will throw much of the US into political chaos. Very dangerous times ahead and would move us into uncharted waters, where there be dragons.
Hatred this old between neighbors has the advantage of familiarity... Each side senses/knows when they're going 'too far'. Let's hope that holds long enough...
The United States Constitution (Article I, Section 6, Clause 1) states that "Senators and Representatives" of Congress "shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony, and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their attendance at the Session of their Respective Houses, and in going to and from the same".except in cases of Treason, Felony, or Breach of the Peace.
I read this to mean that Rep. LaMonica McIver can Constitutionally and legally be arrested under two or possibly all three of the exceptions.
Whether that will fly politically? Anyone's guess.

Thematic migration of the reason for ‘protests’. Over the past several months, themes for the protests focused around a wide variety of grievances - Trump in general, DOGE, DEI, deportations, and pro-hamas/anti-israel. I get a general feel that the left is settling in on deportations (potential racial aspect) and anti-Israel (anti-semitism). The others will still pop up, but these two seem to be the ones they are trying to build for violent actions with. Recent campus actions (pro-hamas based) and the democrat lead anti immigration actions of recent point to this trend. We need to watch to see just how well these grievance issues gain traction and watch closely the over all efforts of the left to incite violence in general develop.

Three congressional Democrats who scuffled with law enforcement officials at a New Jersey ICE facility may face arrests and criminal charges, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin told CNN Saturday that there will “likely be more arrests coming” after Friday’s protests led to the arrests of several people, including Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, reports Axios.
“We actually have body camera footage of these members of Congress assaulting these ICE enforcement officers, including body slamming a female ICE officer,” McLaughlin said.

OBSERVATION - Self deportation is a wonderful and in the end a less expensive way to get them out of the country - even with paying for the one way ticket.

Sensitive talks between U.S. and Chinese delegations over tariffs that threaten to upend the global economy ended after a day of prolonged negotiations and will resume Sunday, a source briefed on the meetings confirmed to CBS News.
President Trump posted on his social media Saturday evening after the meetings concluded, saying “great progress” was made.
“A very good meeting today with China, in Switzerland,” Mr. Trump said. “Many things discussed, much agreed to. A total reset negotiated in a friendly, but constructive, manner. We want to see, for the good of both China and the U.S., an opening up of China to American business.”
There initially was no immediate indication whether any progress was made Saturday during the more than 10-hour meeting between Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng in Switzerland. OBSERVATION - This is the first open acknowledgement that China was engaged in talks. China has been denying rumors of talks for a while now. Chinese home news has kept very quiet about any negotiations, putting forth the front that China can weather the tariffs. Summary —
War returns to its typical day to day play with Shahed attacks and continued moderate to heavy fighting along the front.
The ice appears to be cracking under putin’s resistance to peace talks and there seems to be some glacial advancement towards such. What factors are affecting his gradually changing view are not known, but perhaps a combination of growing economic woes and a stagnated and costly war that is draining massive amounts of resources. However, I think putin is still convinced that he will win via military and not diplomatic means.
Europe is gradually gelling into bringing greater support to Ukraine, reversing a trend of separation that putin’s propaganda machine has erected. A second point is the impatience of Trump, who wields a serous capability to muster far more significant economic sanctions that would seriously threaten putin’s power base.

This comes after explosions were heard in Indian-administered Kashmir hours after the deal was announced, with both sides accusing each other of violations.

OVERALL OBSERVATIONS -
Yep, the ceasefire continues to hold on by a thread, but is holding never the less. Some analysts are suggesting that Pakistan’s meeting of ifs national security council a couple days ago potentially discussed deployment of tactical nukes. US intel caught wind of this and potentially used it to leverage Pakistan into calling for a cease fire first.
As I’ve noted, India appears to have obtained its goal of hitting terror bases and is satisfied with that effort, not really seeing further fighting accomplishing any thing further - and provided an off ramp for their actions.
How well will the current pause last? Not certain, but it appears to be headed, slowly, in the right direction of deescalation.

Yesterday’s JPost article claiming the US is about to recognize a Palestinian state appears to have been a fake news report. I’ve noted last week of an apparent effort by news ‘sources’ to try to place a wedge between the US and Israel. The JPost is generally considered to be a liberal rag, much like the Washington Post, and history indicates it wouldn’t be beneath them to try to pull such an overt attack on the US/Israeli alliance in this manner.
The article created shockwaves and push back from Israeli supporting backers of Trump. Karoline Leavitt and Huckabee’s strong rebuke of the allegations seem to have put things back in order.
Plans for the Gaza ops continue with a window of action opening after May 16.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Saturday that if the United States’ goal is to deprive Iran of its “nuclear rights,” Tehran will never back down over those rights.
Araqchi was speaking in Doha, Qatar, a day ahead of another round of planned nuclear talks between Iran and the U.S. in Oman.
“If the goal of the negotiations is to deprive Iran of its nuclear rights, I state clearly that Iran will not back down from any of its rights,” state media quoted Araqchi as saying.

OVERALL OBSERVATIONS - The clock is nearing midnight for Iran. It appears that Trump has given Iran enough rope to hang itself in these ‘negotiations’ and it is as clear as the nose on ones’ face that Iran will not agree to eliminate its nuclear program. This sets up the conditions that Trump can use to justify actions against Iran.
Iran has todays meetings to reverse that trend or the window for military solution to Irans’ program opens wide after May 16 - in less than one week.
Military indicators of impending action by the US would be movements of more forces to the region. The US already has a sizable force in the region, but the case of a potentially large regional war, more is also better.
The redeployment of B2 from Diego Garcia does not rule their use in any attack, it is just that they will have a long haul to get there, rather than much shorter trips (and quicker mission turn around).
