Federal judges warn against Trump's plans to pardon J6 defendants
The Post Millennial ^ | 12/20/24 | Hannah Nightingale

Ahead of President-elect Donald Trump’s second White House term, judges are reportedly expressing concerns over Trump’s plans to pardon those individuals charged in connection with January 6.

US District Judge Tanya Chutkan, who oversaw the since-dismissed January 6 case from Jack Smith against Donald Trump, has reportedly had to reassure officers who were present on that day that "the rule of law still applies," however, she now says "I’m not sure I can do that very convincingly these days," per Politico.

A Trump-appointed judge has warned Trump against issuing a blanket pardon for those arrested, while an Obama-appointed judge said Wednesday that possible efforts to pardon former Oath Keepers leader Stewart Rhodes, who is serving an 18-year prison sentence for seditious conspiracy, would be "frightening." Trump has said that he is planning to pardon those non-violent J6 offenders, not those who have committed violence against officers.

Judges have moved ahead with January 6 cases despite defendants asking for their cases to be delayed in the possibility that Trump pardons them. Politico reported that "Judges have emphasized that his pardon power has no relationship to their obligation to mete out justice, and they have ignored, in Chutkan’s words, 'whatever happens outside this courthouse door.'"

Given the fake character of the entire case, how in the world can we take any of it seriously?

Talk about being mind controlled!

Why would we do this to ourselves, not to mention the innocent victims who were jailed!

Over the top and deserving what punishment?
Surely any such punishment has been exceeded.
Were they slugged first and was it really a slug or a defense. This whole entrapment, kangaroo court and malicious prosecution stinks to high heaven and is a stain on our judicial system. I question any suggestion that there was violence that is relevant in the circumstances.

Given the dishonesty of government officials involved, how can anyone know anything about what really happened?

Especially if the criminal police were somehow assaulted, which I find hard to believe!

The whole thing was a lie! How can we take even a single shred of the government’s claims seriously?

I agree with your post, but would add that Congress freezes the DC budget at its current level while waiting to see the outcome of lawsuits. DC doesn’t care about lawsuits they just get Congress to increase their funds. If DC faces bankruptcy Congress takes back control of the District.

Biden is pardoning mass murderers, yet the judges are silent on that, but they are all “concerned” about pres Trump pardoning people who have never murdered anyone, never burned towns to the ground, never did anything more “serious” than to protest pracefully!

The corruption in the court system is out of control- .iberal judges violate their oath of office and should be thrown to the curb for deri, iction of duty for favoring the corrupt liberal ag3nda and ignoring facts in order to convict innocent peaceful protestors to rediculous incarceration times!

“Each case looked at individually”

But there was no aspect anywhere in the entire case that was based on anything resembling justice!

The whole thing was fake and fraudulent!

Why would we waste a single moment of life taking it seriously, other than to prosecute the real criminals—the federal officials including all court officials who turned our Constitution inside out in an attempt to bring down our Republic!

“These judges should be removed from the bench.”

The next Congress should review the sentencing provisions of federal laws.

Perhaps the governor of the state a convicted person has been issued an official ID from at least 90 days prior to the case should be granted the power by federal law to reduce a federal sentence for an American citizen never previously sentenced for a crime downward to any amount equal to or above the minimum possible statutory amount within 30 days of sentencing.

That would have permitted Governor DeSantis to commute the sentences of almost all Floridian J6ers.

I was checking that pesky constitution thingie, and it turns out the house of representatives (purposely not capitalized) has the power to both remove rogue judges through impeachment.
How many do you recall being impeached?

But Biden is rumored to be considering the commutation of all death row inmates in federal prison, and they don’t give a damn. Screw these judges!

“Surely any such punishment has been exceeded.”

generally so

“Were they slugged first and was it really a slug or a defense.”

If they were slugged first, then obviously excessive police force was involved.

“entrapment”

Footage needs to be reviewed. I’m for harsh sentencing for instigators.

“kangaroo court and malicious prosecution stinks to high heaven”

There’s a federal deprivation of rights law. If a J6er was extradited from Florida, then maybe a Florida jury should get to hear the case.

“These judges shouldn’t be offering their opinions on pardons at all.”

EXACTLY.

He is a balless, narcissistic, feminized, swaying, simpering capon “emoting” his way through a system evolved over 3,000 years to be dispassionate and JUST.

He is not fit to be a judge of Men or the Law.

Not that I feel strongly about it.

Time for a class action suit for prosecutor’s and judicial misconduct against all, including the FBI AND J6 Committee.

The same way the three Duke LaCrosse players sued and won $90 million against Nifong in a federal case. They also sued the police, Duke University, and all involved in the fraud against them.

J6 folks should use that as a model to proceed in Federal Court.

“A judiciary independent of a king or executive alone is a good thing; but independence of the will of the nation is a solecism, at least in a republican government.” —Thomas Jefferson to Thomas Ritchie, 1820. ME 15:298

“The original error [was in] establishing a judiciary independent of the nation, and which, from the citadel of the law, can turn its guns on those they were meant to defend, and control and fashion their proceedings to its own will.” —Thomas Jefferson to John Wayles Eppes, 1807. FE 9:68

“We have... [required] a vote of two-thirds in one of the Houses for removing a judge; a vote so impossible where any defense is made before men of ordinary prejudices and passions, that our judges are effectually independent of the nation. But this ought not to be. I would not indeed make them dependent on the Executive authority, as they formerly were in England; but I deem it indispensable to the continuance of this government that they should be submitted to some practical and impartial control, and that this, to be impartial, must be compounded of a mixture of state and federal authorities.” —Thomas Jefferson: Autobiography, 1821. ME 1:120

“Impeachment is a farce which will not be tried again.” —Thomas Jefferson to William B. Giles, 1807. ME 11:191

“Let the future appointments of judges be for four or six years and renewable by the President and Senate. This will bring their conduct at regular periods under revision and probation, and may keep them in equipoise between the general and special governments. We have erred in this point by copying England, where certainly it is a good thing to have the judges independent of the King. But we have omitted to copy their caution also, which makes a judge removable on the address of both legislative houses.” —Thomas Jefferson to William T. Barry, 1822. ME 15:389

“Our different States have differently modified their several judiciaries as to the tenure of office. Some appoint their judges for a given term of time; some continue them during good behavior, and that to be determined on by the concurring vote of two-thirds of each legislative house. In England they are removable by a majority only of each house. The last is a practicable remedy; the second is not. The combination of the friends and associates of the accused, the action of personal and party passions and the sympathies of the human heart will forever find means of influencing one-third of either the one or the other house, will thus secure their impunity and establish them in fact for life. The first remedy is the better, that of appointing for a term of years only, with a capacity of reappointment if their conduct has been approved.” —Thomas Jefferson to A. Coray, 1823. ME 15:486

“Contrary to all correct example, [the Federal judiciary] are in the habit of going out of the question before them, to throw an anchor ahead and grapple further hold for future advances of power. They are then in fact the corps of sappers and miners, steadily working to undermine the independent rights of the States and to consolidate all power in the hands of that government in which they have so important a freehold estate.” —Thomas Jefferson: Autobiography, 1821. ME 1:121

“The judges... are practicing on the Constitution by inferences, analogies, and sophisms, as they would on an ordinary law. They do not seem aware that it is not even a Constitution formed by a single authority and subject to a single superintendence and control, but that it is a compact of many independent powers, every single one of which claims an equal right to understand it and to require its observance.” —Thomas Jefferson to Edward Livingston, 1825. ME 16:113

“It has long been my opinion, and I have never shrunk from its expression,... that the germ of dissolution of our Federal Government is in the constitution of the Federal Judiciary—an irresponsible body (for impeachment is scarcely a scare-crow), working like gravity by night and by day, gaining a little today and a little tomorrow, and advancing its noiseless step like a thief over the field of jurisdiction until all shall be usurped from the States and the government be consolidated into one. To this I am opposed.” —Thomas Jefferson to Charles Hammond, 1821. ME 15:331

“At the establishment of our Constitutions, the judiciary bodies were supposed to be the most helpless and harmless members of the government. Experience, however, soon showed in what way they were to become the most dangerous; that the insufficiency of the means provided for their removal gave them a freehold and irresponsibility in office; that their decisions, seeming to concern individual suitors only, pass silent and unheeded by the public at large; that these decisions nevertheless become law by precedent, sapping by little and little the foundations of the Constitution and working its change by construction before any one has perceived that that invisible and helpless worm has been busily employed in consuming its substance. In truth, man is not made to be trusted for life if secured against all liability to account.” —Thomas Jefferson to A. Coray, 1823. ME 15:486

“I do not charge the judges with wilful and ill-intentioned error; but honest error must be arrested where its toleration leads to public ruin. As for the safety of society, we commit honest maniacs to Bedlam; so judges should be withdrawn from their bench whose erroneous biases are leading us to dissolution. It may, indeed, injure them in fame or in fortune; but it saves the republic, which is the first and supreme law.” —Thomas Jefferson: Autobiography, 1821. ME 1:122

Most of DC needs to get handed back to Maryland.

If the embassies wish to relocate to the federal part retained, the GAO can find the space they would need.
