Federal judges warn against Trump's plans to pardon J6 defendants

Ahead of President-elect Donald Trump’s second White House term, judges are reportedly expressing concerns over Trump’s plans to pardon those individuals charged in connection with January 6.

US District Judge Tanya Chutkan, who oversaw the since-dismissed January 6 case from Jack Smith against Donald Trump, has reportedly had to reassure officers who were present on that day that "the rule of law still applies," however, she now says "I’m not sure I can do that very convincingly these days," per Politico.

A Trump-appointed judge has warned Trump against issuing a blanket pardon for those arrested, while an Obama-appointed judge said Wednesday that possible efforts to pardon former Oath Keepers leader Stewart Rhodes, who is serving an 18-year prison sentence for seditious conspiracy, would be "frightening." Trump has said that he is planning to pardon those non-violent J6 offenders, not those who have committed violence against officers.

Judges have moved ahead with January 6 cases despite defendants asking for their cases to be delayed in the possibility that Trump pardons them. Politico reported that "Judges have emphasized that his pardon power has no relationship to their obligation to mete out justice, and they have ignored, in Chutkan’s words, 'whatever happens outside this courthouse door.'"

The J6ers are our brothers and sisters.

They should be treated the same as Hunter Biden.

There were instigators of violence who should not be pardoned.

There’s less than a month for government instigators to obtain pardons. Speak up now to get a pardon from Biden or you’ll rot in prison for a long time.

Screw Chutkan and the rest of them.

I'll bet even Lazamataz would not do that first part!

These black robed tyrants just want to seem powerful as the noose closes in on their necks for violating the civil rights of hundreds of people.

It’s good that these judges- beginning with the corrupt Chutkin- line themselves up for DJT’s DOJ. They can be removed from the bench more easily!
EVERY ONE of them should be relieved of duty for violation of their oath.
The bench is NOT their play yard for “social justice”.

"Hanging judge" - Generally, this term is applied to judges who gained a reputation for imposing unusual harsh sentences, even in jurisdictions where the death penalty was abolished.

“** full pardon issued for any J6er including violent ones where such civil rights violations occurred.”

I’m leery of letting violent persons off the hook.

Slugging a uniformed Capitol police officer is obviously over the top.

No one should care what this partisan hack has to say about anything, particularly President Trump.

If one can be jailed for contempt of court or for contempt of congress, why shouldn’t the judges be subject to jailing for contempt of the office of the president?

Correct. The DC judges are scared that their judicial misconduct will be exposed. They persecuted J6 protesters by allowing prosecutors to overcharge and sentencing them to long jail terms. The DC judges should be disbarred and humiliated.

ps

Why are there no Antifa and BLM rioters in jail?

Hi CFW -

Allow me to go a bit farther about “These judges shouldn’t be offering their opinions on pardons at all.” I believe the opinions expressed are violations of Judicial Ethics which are designed to insulate the judiciary from taking, or having the appearance of taking, any position on cases. Judges are law givers. They are not fact finders.

https://www.uscourts.gov/administration-policies/judiciary-policies/ethics-policies/code-conduct-united-states-judges

Commentray for Canon 2A is: “Canon 2A. An appearance of impropriety occurs when reasonable minds, with knowledge of all the relevant circumstances disclosed by a reasonable inquiry, would conclude that the judge’s honesty, integrity, impartiality, temperament, or fitness to serve as a judge is impaired. Public confidence in the judiciary is eroded by irresponsible or improper conduct by judges, including harassment and other inappropriate workplace behavior. A judge must avoid all impropriety and appearance of impropriety. This prohibition applies to both professional and personal conduct. A judge must expect to be the subject of constant public scrutiny and accept freely and willingly restrictions that might be viewed as burdensome by the ordinary citizen. Because it is not practicable to list all prohibited acts, the prohibition is necessarily cast in general terms that extend to conduct by judges that is harmful although not specifically mentioned in the Code. Actual improprieties under this standard include violations of law, court rules, or other specific provisions of this Code.”

I’ll have to look at the specific rules for these judges. If a violation, perhaps we can start a chain of complaints and grievances, that will require them to spend ,much time and money to defend their actions.

Just sayin’

These corrupt federal judges in DC should be afraid THEY will be arrested and face military tribunals for THEIR treason against the USA and the American people.

Congress can and SHOULD eliminate the jurisdiction of DC judges over such cases. Congress has full authority to revoke the power of any and all federal judges to preside over such traitorous attacks on a president.
