Pete Hegseth told reporters Wednesday morning that President-elect Donald Trump has told him to “keep fighting” as he faces serious doubts about his ability to get confirmed as Defense secretary.
“I spoke to the president elect this morning. He said, keep going, keep fighting,” Hegseth said. “Why would I back down? I’ve always been a fighter.”

Never accept their premises. If you do, you hand them victory.
Never allow them to select the terrain to fight on. It is a recipe for defeat.
If you lose, make them force the loss. Make them work to enact their perfidy and reject the candidate straight up or down. Make them employ their entire arsenal of tools, call in all their favors, and expend their political capital to defeat your nominations.
When a candidate is proposed that they don't like, Leftists, RINOs, and Deep Staters will say:
"Oh, why can't you think of the good of the public, the principles of bipartisanship, and the respect of the democratic process, and instead of putting up a radical candidate like "Jones", put up a "reasonable" candidate like "Smith" so we can all work together for the good of the nation?"
Of course, it carries the obvious implication that "Smith" would fly through the confirmation process.
When you buckle and fold like a cheap suit by canning "Jones" and putting up "Smith", that is the equivalent of throwing bloody chum into the shark infested water, and on a dime, they will pivot to attacking your new "reasonable" candidate, "Smith", as if the "radical" "Jones" had never even existed.
I am astonished to see the huge volume of idiot "conservatives" who, like Charlie Brown, continue to try to kick that football of the "Unfit Radical Jones" vs. the "Reasonable Confirmable Smith" that the Lucy Van Pelt Left holds in place for them.
It is as if they never saw this dynamic before in their entire lives. It is perpetually new to them. At least Charlie Brown knows he has been had when the football is pulled away as he tries to kick it.
Wash, Rinse, Repeat. Do this until you get a nominee that the Left grumbles and votes "reluctantly" for, who squeaks through with the narrowest of margins and has no mandate. But in reality, it is a candidate that will do what the Left wants, someone who at best will do nothing and kick the can down the road towards the cliff, and at worst, is destructive to this nation.
And make no mistake: This is entertainment for the Left. This is fun and rewarding to them. This is political blood sport, because since 1974 when they got Nixon's scalp on their belt, they have consistently won at this "game". They have demonstrated the stomach to play this game, and Conservatives have shown themselves to be compliant patsies, as we are showing now.
And judging from the comments from ostensible "conservatives" on this very forum, that dynamic does not appear changed or altered in the least.
Enough of this Desantis to replace Hegseth BS.
