Firearms Commerce Report Discontinued by Biden’s ATF

The Biden administration, with their takeover of the ATF, discontinued the publication of Firearms Commerce in the United States without announcement.  Firearms Commerce of the United States was last published in May of 2021, shortly after the Biden Administration took residence in the White House.

Many journalists and researchers, including myself, used the annual report as the basis of numerous articles about what was happening in the firearms industry. In January of 2023, at the SHOT SHOW in Las Vegas, I asked ATF representatives when the latest version of Firearms Commerce in the United States would be published. None had been published since 2021. This correspondent was assured the next version would be published in May 2023. None was forthcoming.

As far as this correspondent has been able to determine, no official notice of the report’s discontinuance was ever made. It appears even people inside the ATF did not know the report was discontinued, as they told this correspondent it would be forthcoming shortly.

One of the important statistics published in Firearms Commerce of the United States was the number of National Firearms Act (NFA) tax stamps issued and the number of various application forms approved. The numbers were published in detail by state, and the total was for the United States. A particularly important number is the number of silencers and other NFA items. The report showed the number of approved applications for Form 1 (to make an NFA item) and approved applications to purchase and transfer NFA items.

These numbers tell us how many officially approved silencers and other NFA items were recognized as legally existing.  The number is important. There are several cases in federal courts challenging bans on the possession or ownership of silencers and the constitutionality of the statutory framework on which

The "whole of government" was weaponized in the Obama/Biden administrations. The first job of an agency was not to do what Congress had authorized them to do. It was to support the Biden administration's narrative and to work to make sure Biden got re-elected.

I still maintain that Eric Holder has been a driving force behind a lot of this type of stuff. From adulteration of the crime statistics to the ATF statistical manipulation, this has Holder’s fingerprints all over it. Mr. Fast and Furious.

The smart, savvy employees at a certain “regulatory agency” should be transferring themselves right NOW to constitutional and useful agencies, instead

the unwise will be laid off when their bureau is finally shut down (Musk and his associate are reportedly placing all of the unconstitutional agencies and bureaus right at the top of their Elimination List

You can probably assume that this information is being “memory holed” because the data does not help the narrative they want to push. They don’t want to release a notice that the reports have been discontinued because that would let everyone know that they did it on purpose.

Changing employment should not be sufficient to avoid criminal charges for conspiracy against rights.

True, the employees should never have been willing to accept employment with such an illegal bureau

but money talks and it is unlikely most of them will ever be prosecuted for “just” taking the jobs

I am being as nice as possible by suggesting that they move or be moved to lawful, non-destructive agencies ... and permitted to retain employment, perks, and retirement accounts without any penalties.

I recognize that not every American citizen feels this charitable or compassionate

I suspect you are correct about Eric Holder. However the ATF stuff didn't start up until the Biden administration.
