To: Words Matter

The concern where I live is the tariffs situation, as with any other country that exports to the US. It will end up being a tax on anything imported to the US and in an environment where there's already inflation concious consumers, will it really be a winning move? It's a sentiment with a nationalist punch in it, but at a time when geo political changes are afoot, maybe rates and categories should be considered rather than a broad brush approach. Anyhow, we'll see how it all plays out. At least the right team will be in DC's driving seat.

Tariffs would logically be based on reciprocity. Don't impose or impose reasonable duties on American goods imported and the US would likely reciprocate.

Besides, lamb, wool and the odd result of Kiwi Ingenuity aren't going to be the targets of any new tariff regime. But if a NZ manufacturer is concerned, investing in a US based plant employing Americans is a sure way to avoid any unpleasantness.
