The 25 counties in North Carolina most impacted by the hurricane have only themselves to blame—they are too white. They should have lured more People of Color to live there if they wanted FEMA to care about them.

Personal experience with FEMA.

Some yrs back we were flooded in our county. If anyone recieved damages here, we were to report it at the county. I took pictures of said damage and made my report.

The county called FEMA to come inspect. BTW, my driveway was washed out. Unusable.

A car stopped at the top of driveway. A black lady got out, looked at me as if she wanted to kill me. And preceeded screaming at the top of her lungs.

“How dare you call us! How dare you! I can tell you can take care of yourself and you want us to help you! Don’t you realize we have black families that can’t live in their houses right now! (Paraphrasing, but right on target)

All this and not even looking at my issues. After i explained how the report got to them, she then quickly scanned around and left. Later, an adjuster showed up and estimated over $20,000 in flood damages. And to wit, denied FEMA assistance because, I quote, made too much money.

Screw them

More breaking News from a Whistleblower!
I’m really for cutting Departments and cutting waste, but I’d love to see President Trump create a Department to assist potential Whistleblowers in coming forward and spilling the beans on Government Waste and Illegal activities, it could also offer the whistleblower guidance in navigating the protections afforded to them under the Law. My pick to head up a department like this would be Leo 2.0 Terrell he would uncover the stench of the Swamp.

My experience with FEMA post Hurricane Katrina: I lost everything but my truck and a few clothes. I had a DME company at that time (Home medical equipment, Durable medical equipment) I had dozens of patients to care for all over the Mississippi Coast. I was homeless, but for a bed at my sister’s home in Alabama. Gas was hard to come by and for a time was rationed. My daily commutes were about 100 miles.

The storm hit on Aug 29. I applied for temporary housing in early September, though my application was ‘lost’ a couple of times. My home patients in black communities were served before anyone else. Within a couple of weeks temporary housing was set up, they received MREs, cleaning supplies, cash, etc. Meanwhile, I drained my savings trying to meet my obligations to my patients. Thousands of people camped out for months on the slabs where their home once stood. If not for church groups from all over the country, many would have had nothing to eat and no tent to sleep in.

I was finally granted a temporary FEMA trailer in mid-November. By then I was broke. I sold my interest in the company and for the first time in my life, I was unemployed.

This was long before the DEI crap. That practice has been in place a long time, just not named.
