So count me as suspicious of it being nefarious motives in this instance. Non-nefarious motives would include that they were cutting the line after the point at which those waiting wouldn't get to vote that day.

In general, early voting locations don't stay open late just because there are people in line.

I thought all these people were standing in line to vote, not to apply for a mail in ballot. That is quite a different thing.
