It’s usually the stragglers who vote early. No, it's not. It's the people who are extremely politically engaged who vote early.
The stragglers are the people Trump needs to turn out on Election Day.

(I've already voted by mail for Trump in Virgina.)

Most analysts are interpreting early voting as a measure of enthusiasm by the parties.
It is probably correct—and maybe important—or it may not mean much at all.
We will know soon enough.

The politically engaged always vote on election day. They’re like the church goers who show up on Sunday - they make time, because it’s a religious occasion. The early voters are like people who attend weekday services. If convenient, they’ll attend. If not, maybe next time around.

Many "stragglers" have become "politically engaged".
It's that, that Trump needed more, and it is indeed happening.
