earning $12.50 an hour
doesn’t seem like wage ‘exploitation’ to me. I’ve worked for temp agencies before and it’s pretty standard to charge a company 20% on top of the wage being paid to the workersince the temp agency handles all the employment paperwork . Many companies have policies to offer perm employment to good workers after 90 days or so as a temp. The article doesn’t address whether this is happening in Springfield. Shift-sharing a room until a empty room opens up doesn’t seem unusual, either. How many folks did this in their youth when first starting out, going to college or especially in the cities? Chain migration is also spoken of: “Daughter and two others” hints at where the worker’s wages are being spent. Dilapidated housing purchased at dilapidated pricing? That’s where code enforcement is throwing money away by not leving fines against the owner but it does seem the property owner is paying local taxes. The 43 houses “King George” owns is nowhere near enough to house 20,000 workers, and the rest must live somewhere, so where are the property taxes on the remaining housing being spent? Empty grocery shelves actually lends credence to the claim waterfowl are gone. As an ‘investigative’ piece, the author falls flat by focusing on a black business owner instead of City Hall.
Florida prosecutor pokes hole in potential defense for Trump assassination attempt suspect.
State Attorney Dave Aronberg says Ryan Routh’s outspoken support for Ukraine in its fight against Russia shows he knows the difference between right and wrong – even as he allegedly attempted an ‘evil’ act against the former president.
Ryan Wesley Routh’s affinity for the Ukrainian cause in the country’s fight against a Russian invasion shows he knows enough about right and wrong to make an insanity defense a tough sell in connection with his alleged failed assassination plot against former President Trump, according to a Florida prosecutor.
State Attorney Dave Aronberg, who is not handling Routh’s case after federal prosecutors claimed jurisdiction, said that although the suspect was seen smiling and laughing with defense lawyers in his first court appearance Monday, his “manic” demeanor doesn’t strike him as criminally insane.
“He fled after all, tried to get away and escape,” he said. “So that shows you that he knew the difference between right and wrong. What’s ironic about this guy is that he also understood that the Ukrainians were the good guys in their fight against the Russians – but to try to make his point, he was trying to do an evil act in attempting apparently to kill someone.”
Dave Yost was the best state Auditor ever and could become the best AG ever IF he exposes the rot in Soringfield and the corrupt governor behind it.
