Just a reminder that “word salad” while not pathognomonic for schizoaffective disorders IS highly suggestive of one of them.
In Kamala’s case, “disorganized schizophrenia” fits.
Not ALL schizophrenics are babbling psycho street people/bag ladies.
Some are very talented in areas of mathematics and other sciences. John Nash is one, played by Russell Crowe in Ron Howard’s film “A Beautiful Mind.”
Look at the criteria for “disorganized schizophrenia” and tell me it doesn’t suit Kamala to a “T”.
Respectfully, I disagree. I admit I’m not a professional in the field, but as I understand it, the word salad episodes that are symptomatic of disorganized schizophrenia tend to be instances where the speaker jumps from thought to thought with no apparent connection between them. With Kamala I think it’s more that she rambles off into platitudes to hide the fact that she has nothing intelligent to say on most subjects.
Her answers may not be connected to the subject matter but I think they’re internally consistent for the most part. For example, I think saying “We need to seize the moment, understand the good in people and build on what we have in common” when responding to a question about inflation is more an example of political doublespeak than anything else.
