Where does the person that prefers solitude over fillintheblank human intimate relationship fit in? You know the song...”I’ll be what I am...solitary man.” Seriously. I prefer to not burden anyone with myself and I shiver at the thought of being trapped in a sour relationship of which I see others in all over in society.
Scripture does not condemn that as sin as far as I can tell. I don’t recall ever reading anything alluding to that.
And yes, our society is filled with sore, or perhaps better, toxic relationships and I can understand the desire to want to avoid them.
The number of truly healthy relationships I have seen in my life is pretty small and seems to be dwindling these days as godlessness abounds.
1 Thessalonians 4:3-5
3 It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality;
4 that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable,
5 not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God;
1 Cor 6:13-20
13 You say, “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.” The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
14 By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also.
15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never!
16 Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.”
17 But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.
18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.
19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
Sorry - reread your post - I meant to post the verse about being single is better if you are not tempted in lust - got sidetracked by bad search engines.
See 1 Cor 7:6-9
