I came here to mention Time Tunnel. None of the articles I read this morning mentioned that 30 episode gem!
I think TT turned me on to history and science fiction at a very young age.
RIP.
As a young Star Trek Fan, I never got Deep Space Nine but as I grew older it grew on me and is my favorite of the series. Vic was a nice addition and I loved the one show where Nog loses his leg and starts to hide in the holodeck, so he doesn’t have to face the reality of being disabled. Vic kicks him out by shutting down his program and refusing to turn back on no matter what he does. I love how the Chief explains Vic and why he was giving Nog the kick in the pants he needed to get back to living. Both actors did one of the best jobs I have ever watched and according to the late actor who played Nog they both received letters from veterans around the world, even years later stating how the show helped them deal with PSTD, Even if you aren’t a fan or a veteran it is a must watch on my list. RIP Vic and Nog!
I too fondly remember James Darren’s “Deep Space Nine” character Vic Fontaine. I always looked forward to seeing “Vic” show up in an episode.
Moondoggie ping :(
Yep; from the same South Philly Italian-American neighborhood as Frankie Avalon. Darren's real surname was Ercolani. Frankie's was Avalone. Mostly southern Italian descended folks, Sicilians and Neapolitans and some Abruzzese, lived there in the 50s and many still do.
What you are describing is something to trick the nervous system like the Matrix or Brainstorm. That is not what Quark provided on DS9. My tastes run more toward hard science fiction, with Stark Trek though preferring the entertainment possibilities offered by holodecks and holosuites.
He was an impressively versatile actor if he starred in T. J. Hooker and Gidget. In one, he looked a lot like Captain Kirk, and in the other he looked a lot like someone we really, really liked. Or maybe he just had a supporting role.
I always liked him.
“Time Tunnel,” just about the most memorable TV series ever, gets no respect from the headline writers.
Star of Star Trek and T. J. Hooker, but NOT Priceline ads.... Hm....
I think we’d have to discover a way to generate the ‘force fields’ of science fiction in order to have any hope of making holograms seem ‘solid’.
Time Tunnel was only on for a year, right after the Green Hornet with Bruce Lee. Fun Friday nights.
I do not see that happening.
You may be anticipating a different celebrity death.
