North Korea’s lasted a pretty long time, and so has Cuba. The USSR made it about 70 years. People will trade comfort and government control for their freedom for quite some time. Once the meat hooks of socialism/communism get in and especially when they take over the arms and police, voting out becomes nearly impossible.
Based on how the last few years of the Conservative Party Government in the UK, there really isn’t much difference between the two.
“People will trade comfort and government control for their freedom for quite some time. Once the meat hooks of socialism/communism get in and especially when they take over the arms and police, voting out becomes nearly impossible.”
Yes, but usually... that tradeoff includes safety via that government control. But in the UK, no such safety exists nor will it ever exist, considering how many violent “migrants” they have imported. At least here in the US, civilians have a fighting chance (well, “some” civilians) thanks to our 2nd Amendment rights still thankfully intact.
Agreed. Little by little, the gov restricts people’s rights and freedoms, until at last there is neither rights nor freedoms- all the while folks think “it can’t get much worse”
Govs dont take all rights Immediately, as that would cause citizens to fight, so they do it in increments so as not to cause the people to rally
“ People will trade comfort and government control for their freedom for quite some time.”
That’s very important to be aware of.
Conservatives to keep this in mind when putting forth our ideas.
We need to remind people that the comfort get from government income is a trade for their freedom and autonomy .
Correct on all points. And once you destroy a healthy, stable and cohesive culture its easy to control the masses. The yoke of tyranny with its promises of largesse and utopianism has many supporters.
