"...his lawyers argued that he is intellectually disabled and thus ineligible for the death penalty." IMO this has always been a nonsense argument. If someone is too mentally deficient to live among normal humans without killing them, then they should not be on Earth.

So if under 18, no death penalty. If “intellectually disabled”...no death penalty. Asking for lots of innocent victims killed by sub 18 year olds who are just a bit dumb.
Would hope the death penalty on those who killed Seth Rich. After all these years somethins’ gotta give.

So, he drifted off peacefully, like taking a little nappie.
That’s not real justice.

Twenty-seven years later.
How about 27 DAYS later?
No fault of the Great State of Texas, mind you.

So, his appeal was “I’m a retard so you can’t execute me”.
Texas said ‘Sorry liar” and finally did the right thing.

Nothing to see here — just another white person killed by a black person. I watch a lot of true crime shows while riding my exercise bike every day. I’ve easily seen more than a thousand cases over the years, and black-on-white crime is disgustingly common. I’ve seen only 2 cases involving a white killing a black in a random crime like this.

The murderer appealed his conviction in 2004; the Texas Court of Appeals affirmed the judgment of the trial court. Ten years later the murderer unsuccessfully appealed to the federal court (See
Burton v. Stephens, 573 U.S. 909, 2014). Ten years after that the murderer appealed again to the Texas Court of Appeals which dismissed the application. A last minute appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, claiming he was intellectually disabled, was denied.
Texas needs to drop lethal injection as a means of execution and return to using the gallows.

And Utah put down another rabid dog last night! (Took decades of course).
