“By the latter, we mean that it does need power, but only at start-up for the generation of the magnetic field it initially requires.”
Makes no sense. The magnetic field remains even after the power is shut off?? Nice magic!

Well, what is the “energy” that makes the vehicle move forward, stop, and back up? Is this like a Fred Flintstone car that has a hole in the floor so your feet can provide the energy?

How big is the magnet? Could it fit in, say, my pocket?

Which rare earth will need to be exploited to make all the magnets?

But, magnetic levitation can also be used to send you in the direction you want to go. On tracks,it's either one way or the other. So, magnets below for levitation, and magnets in the front or back for movements in different directions. That's how Maglev trains have worked in the past. There's one set of coils for levitation, and another set for the linear induction motor.

“Yes, you have to make tracks, but once you put a few of them in, their production will take off.”
But at intersections you need switches, or a switch-less track intersection. I’d like to see an example of the latter.

Maybe it will be powered by nuclear fusion. LOL.

Superconducting magnets do this, but they need to be kept at liquid helium cryogenic temperatures. Like an MRI magnet. And maintaining those temperatures requires energy.

Won’t the magnet levitating a car dissipate it’s magnetism?
Or does supercondictivity turn a material into a permanent magnet?
