That almost sounds like what went on in Cuba to a few American agents and diplomats about four years ago.
There were reports of a few individual reporters and agents becoming targeted by radio waves of some kind. Many reported sudden headaches, vertigo and chronic tintinitus after staying overnight in a govt. run facility based in Cuba. It may have been in Havana. The Cuban govt. denied doing anything of the sort. Regardless of how it happened, a couple of Americans had to take early retirement due to the ongoing symptoms.

Weren’t they ultrasonic waves not radio waves or some such that were reported in Cuba back then?
They’re ultra high pitched sound waves that you can’t hear but can damage the brain and stuff, IIRC.
