Yep. Trump should avoid talking about Kamala’s cynical use of race or attacking her as a DEI hire. Otherwise he’ll lose all those white liberal voters who were never going to vote for him any way. And he’ll make all those milquetoast Republicans who are still going to vote for him, uncomfortable.
Trump’s comments on race and DEI aren’t going to move the needle with either of those two groups. His comments will help them to confirm their own feelings about Trump and may intensify such feelings, but they won’t change their votes.
So what’s the point in making them? Easy. The Democrats are trying to claw back all the hard fought gains Trump has made with Black voters. A growing minority of Blacks have moved towards Trump because they’ve gotten fed up with the racial pandering of the left. They’re still in the minority but the damage they’ve already caused to Democrat’s pathway to 270 is fatal. An increase in the Black vote from 9% to 20% is a game changer which is why the left is so desperate to win them back. And their strategy is to take their tried and true race card pandering and ramp it up to a fever pitch.
And that’s why Trump has no choice but to address it. All this talk about Kamala being Indian before she became Black, may make you feel uneasy, but it’s the way Trump is going to keep his Black supporters from abandoning him. And making Kamala’s phony Blackness an issue is what’s going to allow his Black supporters to counter the pro-Kamala arguments they encounter within their community. Trump has to give his Black supporters a reason to stick with him. They were attracted to him to begin with because they admired his willingness to not be intimidated by the left and his willingness to speak truthfully without being cowered by the PC police. If he suddenly becomes weak-kneed and afraid to take the racial pandering head on, he will lose them.
