Regarding Crane getting information about the shooter's home being scrubbed, I think Crane and other Congressmen visiting the site received a lot of information from upset and disgruntled local LEOs. Numerous Congressmen have said that local LEOs were telling them off-the-record that's there's much more to this story than what's been revealed so far by the Secret Service.

Of course, just from the testimony that the shooter's house was scrubbed one might conclude that the shooter was part of a professional operation.
