However, Trump’s speech lacked even a pro-gun anecdote or aside promoting gun rights.
Much to do about nothing. Anything said would be used against him.

“Not necessary to focus on a subject that most Americans already agree on.”
What I was thinking. He probably wouldn’t change any minds.
Although, after Saturday it would have been a perfect time to double down on “shall not be infringed” and the Constitution. It’s people who are evil; not inanimate objects.
Some time he should go full hyperbole and declare that under his administration cars, knives, and bathtubs will be unavailable to citizens. That might raise some eyebrows, or make people stop and think.

You could also say that Trump refused to support gun control.

what does the GOP platform say about gun rights, because that platform was essentially written by Trump ...

Like with the abortion issue, it's a President's Supreme Court nominees that are really all that matter.
Trump's justices overturned Roe and have strongly upheld the Second Amendment.

I can understand Trump not getting into a gun dialogue given what happened less than a week ago.I can. Trump, being essentially a New Yorker is not nearly as strong on the 2nd Amendment as I'd like. I want to see the entirety of 922(o) stricken from the code, either judicially, because it is repugnant to the constitution, or legislatively for exactly the same reason.
I hope he's able to find a clone of Justice Thomas.

We all know that Trump supports 2A he didn’t need to mention it in his acceptance speech.

I think that Trump’s 2A policies haven’t changed. He doesn’t have to mention everything that he previously supported to assure me of his positions. If he changes a position, he’ll let us know.

He’s smart.
We all know he’s going to appoint SCOTUS members and only sign legislation that is -at its very worst - a lot better than anything in a generation.
He doesn’t need to risk alienating anyone to win my vote, at the worst he’s going to be an order of magnitude better than anyone with a ‘D’ after their name; if he’s got to be coy with the soccer moms who freak out at the beginning of Deer Season, I’m not too worried.
