“A bridge to the younger generation.”
Yes, that definitely could be. His youth complements Trump’s age. Let’s hope he becomes a player in the decades to come.
Nixon had two terms in the house before he was elected to the Senate and earned a reputation as a staunch anti-communist in the House.
Why do you think that?
I first discovered political blogs around 2003.
Over the course of 17 years my go-to sites were FR, Instapundit, HotAir, and Powerline.
As of election night 2020, the only one of these sites I’m still on is right here. I completely dropped the other three. They’re all controlled opposition.
Screw Hinderaker and his two little poodles. Screw Ed Morrissey.
And especially screw Glenn Reynolds, who tries to put himself over as this edgy alt populist, who shills for Amazon.
Instapundit’s format is basically all free flowing links to stories. In many cases it’s just a link. In many other cases, Glenn, or somebody else, makes a comment to accompany the link. And sometimes when he feels strongly about something, he’ll do his own rant accompanying the link.
I waited 3 days for him to make a statement about the election. To say something one way or the other about whether or not he thought it was stolen. He said nothing. And then he links to a story about “gaming Biden’s cabinet”.
They can all go to hell.
Correction: “Public Enemy Number TWO”
Nobody will replace Trump in the Number One spot.
“He selected him to be his Apprentice.”
Yes. Good apprentice material, indeed. Age 43 after Trump is out of office.
I recall reading many years ago that Senators make terrible presidents because they are one of a hundred and do not exhibit leadership. Whereas Governors have executive leadership skills and experience needed in the White House.
By far, the worst Senator to become POTUS was Obama. No other Senator comes close.
“...with new constituencies, cheating gets VERY tough. Some of them have reputations of bad reactions to rip offs. And the cheaters will have no clue about who is undercover. Used to [be], they could trust a rapper or a young hip hop fan. They could trust a Teamster. Now...maybe not.”
Very good observation. I had not thought of that. Maybe the Dem cheaters will have second thoughts.
“Trump has turned the GOP into a multiracial working and Middle Class party.”
It’s too rich, isn’t it? Trump stole a march on the Dems. What are the Dems left with? 174 different grievance groups all struggling and scrambling over one another to get a higher rung on the grievance ladder.
“Good for the teamster guy.” — wow, he was the world’s biggest gasbag. Talk about a guy who loves to hear his own voice. It’s a major turnoff when a person can’t get his three key points out and conclude inside 10 minutes.
I like the fact that this is the first RNC with a teamster representative in 120 years and that Trump reached out and recruited him.
But I’m HIGHLY skeptical of unions after having worked with many of them on construction projects in the ‘70s. They killed productivity and innovation. They were the laziest people I’d ever encountered. They’s shut a job site down if you looked at one of them cross-eyed.
For decades, union leaders have only been in it to enrich themselves (just like Congress).
Of course, the vast majority of American union membership these days is government and teacher’s unions, not construction and manufacturing.
That’s a great comment from PowerLine!
Pence wasn’t the other option so I don’t know why that argument keeps being made.
It makes NO sense.
I think you summed up it up pretty well in my opinion.
The party needs younger blood in more leadership positions. I could see JD running for Prez in 4 years with one of the Trump boys/men as VP if one so desired. Don Jr especially.
Did John ever say anything bad about Pence?
I agree, and am greatly disappointed.
Trump picks a former Marine, former Never Trumper. Ivy league educated.... most nuanced pick ever. And a debate king to boot.
Master stroke of genius.
Yeah, Tucker was right up there with Trump’s inner circle in the VIP section tonight. neocons and other assorted types who long for the days of GW Bush are not gonna be happy.
Needless wars are the last thing this country needs to worry about when a 20 year old outwitted the Secret Service and other law enforcement.
“The interviewer should have politely and respectfully asked him “why?”
He was asked by Shawn Hannity in an interview right after he was detemined the VP and he openly admitted he didn’t think Trump could do what he said he would in 2016. He was proven wrong and has since climbed on the wagon. I value honesty over integrity. The last person that was perfect they put on the cross. And he also, in the interview, said he doesn’t always agree with Trump on certain issues and they would talk about it for a joint decision. But they would work it out together and that’s how adults do it. Neither will tell the other to stick it and take their ball home. Good of the country.

As a former Trump-hater, he knows the other side's arguments and can dispel them with cool and aplomb.
