I think [Vance] is a bad decision for a number of reasons.
At 39, Vance is too young...with less than two years in the Senate as his only political office, he has nowhere near the experience that a VP should bring to a ticket.
Vance, who is unknown to the general public, won’t bring Trump a single new vote. In fact, there is no reason to think that he is any kind of political powerhouse: in his only race, he ran far behind the other statewide Republican candidates in Ohio.
...Vance’s political views are...half-baked. He is still evolving...he denounced Trump viciously in 2016, while now he is an acolyte. In 2016, it was dumb of Vance to describe Trump as an “idiot,” as “noxious,” as one who is either “a cynical asshole” or “America’s Hitler,” just as it is dumb for Democrats to say the same things today. Vance’s never-Trumpism showed poor judgment, and 2016 is not exactly ancient history. Vance converted to Catholicism in 2019...we don’t need a president or vice president who is still on a voyage of self-discovery.
...on foreign policy...he strikes me as something close to an isolationist. He attacks the Iraq war in a manner barely distinguishable from leftists, and his statement that “I got to be honest with you, I don’t really care what happens to Ukraine one way or another,” is flippant at best. The world needs a strong America; I am not sure Vance agrees.
...Vance is a bright guy and a pretty solid conservative, I don’t think he is...ready for prime time, and I don’t think he makes a perceptible contribution to the ticket. Trump had a number of much better choices available, and I think his selecting Vance reflects the poor judgment to which Trump is occasionally prone.

Sounds like National Review crap.
Go away Rinos.
Good for the teamster guy. Those Chamber of Commerce corporations have become 100% anti-Republican and woke freaks over the past decade.
Well he does plagiarize from Obama.
I didn’t like that he did that.
It’s as bad as Biden using a Labour speech from the UK (spelling intended).
You can look at videos online about it.
As long as he’s just doing business/numbers he’s okay, but he wants to lead too badly.
I described him before as an Ivy League lawyer pretending to be a hillbilly.
But I’m not going to criticize. We’ll see over time.
Right now VP doesn’t matter.
Pious Pence was a grating personality. I tried to like him, but it was a hard task.
Only two years in the senate didn’t stop Obama from assuming the presidency.
I’m sick of bitching and whining, that’s what I think.
You want “President Harris”?
Because constant bitching and whining is how you get “President Harris”.
Nixon had also been a Congressman and had a reputation and a record.
I think it is a mistake for the reason of taking a republican out of congress. We need all we can get.
That would violate the rule that the President and the Vice President can't come from the same state. They would grind their wheels and waste a lot of time getting it worked out in Florida. JD Vance appeals to the military and the police. He is the perfect choice.
J. D. is young, an enlisted Marine with combat theater service, who finished college and law school, has a successful business background and just happens to be a serving US Senator. He is rational, very articulate and he is everything good that Kamala is not.
But more importantly, he changed his mind about Donald Trump. And that makes him all the more believable and will prove valuable to the campaign and to the administration.
I think he will interest and capture many voters not presently in Trump's camp and he will reassure those voters who are worried over Trump's age. Finally, I think he will be a stronger campaigner than we have seen in any vice presidential candidate in a very long time, maybe as far back as Nixon and Humphrey.
What pundits think is interesting, but …..
Ah shaddup. I am tired of it. Trump has made his pick and we go with it.
I wanted either Ben Carson or Tulsi Gabbard. Don’t know much about Vance at all to be honest — but think the “being on a journey” is better than being stuck in *fixed* lies, tied to *fixed* special interests, or trapped by *fixed*bad habits.
But being adaptable is not mutually exclusive with being principled.
Nixon was also very intelligent.
Or look at it this way…you can keep your 2020 sign and just change the first 2 letters!
LoL! i was thinking that. Trump-Pence, Trump-Vance
Every criticism Hinderaker makes against Vance could be made about Trump in 2015.
I like this post over at Power line
“The difference between the two Ivy League lawyers Hinderaker and Vance appears to be 4 years in the Marines, success in venture capital and tech business in Silicon Valley, a New York Times best seller and movie, Senate by his mid-30’s, and the ability to evolve from elitist Trump and America First disgust to enlightened MAGA supporter.
Get off John’s lawn, kids! Go fight and die in the Middle East or set up manufacturing plants in China!”
Vance is wicked smart and outshines every other guy on Trump’s ‘short list’ I was relieved that he picked him over any of the rest.
