New details about the assassination attempt on President Trump are coming fast.
Earlier this morning former Secret Service Agent Dan Bongino gave his opinion about the Secret Service almost unfathomable drop in security protocol that allowed a gunman with a rifle to climb atop a building a mere 130 yards away from President Trump. Having some very specific insight into protection detail protocol, Bongino gives a unique perspective on what might have gone wrong.
...
Making matters worse, the FBI are in charge of the investigation. The FBI has suffered irreversible credibility collapse, and many believe there is no worse agency to investigate the events than a highly politicized and weaponized Federal Bureau of Investigation, with a long and non-debatable history of corruption.
Obviously, accepting the lack of public trust in both the FBI and Secret Service, there is mounting speculation as to whether the assassination effort was the result of a series of grossly incompetent mistakes, or was perhaps a willfully blind -and intentional- failure of security.
Adding fuel to the fire of intentional security failures, the AP is now reporting that a police officer saw the gunman before the shots were fired, and the police officer retreated allowing time for the shooter to fire 5 shots toward his target – wounding President Trump and two other attendees, killing another.
(VIA AP) – […] Not long before shots rang out, rallygoers noticed a man climbing to the roof of a nearby building and warned local police, according to two law enforcement officials.
One local police officer climbed to the roof and encountered Crooks, who pointed his rifle at the officer. The officer retreated down the ladder, and Crooks quickly took a shot toward Trump, and that’s when Secret Service snipers shot him, said the officials, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation.
The Local LE SNIPER who ended up shooting the assassin STATED that he was told to WAIT FOR PERMISSION before firing. That he could not fire until any suspect fired first.
“The officer had no choice. Only in the movies can one fire a gun while hanging onto a ladder. It takes two hands to fire a gun.
Even if you could fire a gun with one hand, the recoil would likely throw you backwards off the ladder. Also you are an easy target for someone on the area above you.
The only choice was to retreat and call for help. The assassin was forced into firing right away and possibly that added to the the factors of him not getting off a deadly shot.
Trying to blame this officer is just a diversion by the media .”
ALL OF THIS IS WRONG.
the cop could had even discharged his gun in the air as an alert.
Why don’t you climb a ladder and try shooting off a handgun ?
It’s not like in the movies.
The failures of the s.s. are so basic, that it defies explanation.
President Trump is 6’3” tall.
Let’s put some 5’5” agents out there.
The crowd not only saw but pointed out the shooter moving into position.
All s.s. snipers were on the same rooftop.
That rooftop was in what should have been a secure area.
Little agents blocked the way for the larger agents to get to him.
The smaller agents could not even holster their sidearms.
The entire leadership, and this entire team, need to go away.
Yesterday.
“The Local LE SNIPER who ended up shooting the assassin STATED that he was told to WAIT FOR PERMISSION before firing. That he could not fire until any suspect fired first.”
what is your source? I thought it was a SS sniper who took the shot. Not challenging you, I just want to verify which is right.
The local LE SNIPER had the assassin IN HIS SCOPE for 3 minutes.
3 minutes is an eternity in situations like this.
What a point in time we have come to where half of America no longer trusts the FBI, the CIA, and now the SS to do there jobs without political bias. They brought it on themselves with Russia Russia Russia, unlawful FISA warrants, and 51 intelligence people signing a document stating Hunters laptop was russian disinformation thus interfering in the 2020 election. And now this fustercluck of a SS security detail that allowed this attack to nearly succeed if it wasn’t for divine intervention.
“Why don’t you climb a ladder and try shooting off a handgun
It’s not like in the movies.”
OK. YUP. DONE.
It’s 1000% doable.
Shockingly, a Glock or Beretta (most likely pistol carried) is remarkably EASY to shoot with one hand. Even from a ladder.
But, you are correct, unlike the movies, I run out of ammo when the magazine is empty.
And just where, oh wise one, would the bullet come back down ? If it killed your child, would you still agree to the officer firing randomly in the air ?
In other words it was a govt hit job gone wrong.
the cop could had even discharged his gun in the air as an alert.
And just where, oh wise one, would the bullet come back down ? If it killed your child, would you still agree to the officer firing randomly in the air ?
Seriously. You’re just trolling here, right?
We don’t know what his “rules of engagement” were, though he does also sound clueless.
When he got to the top of the ladder, the kid pointed the rifle at him, whereupon the cop started back down. Radios presumably started crackling about this rifle-armed kid. Cops aren’t paid to commit suicide. When your adversary has the drop on you, procedure is to back away and maneuver for a better position.
Susan Crabtree on Secret Service policy. Some of this could be based on candidate fear of political blowback, if an innocent gets killed.
But a source within the Secret Service community tells RealClearPolitics that the agency rules of engagement in this situation are to wait until the president is fired upon to return fire.
“You want to take a shot then find out the guy was holding a telescope?” the source suggested. “The Secret Service is by nature reactive…and you better be right when you do react or you’re f-——d.”
The Secret Service protocol requires that a counter sniper aware of a potential shooter to radio directly to intelligence division team to respond and investigate. In this case, the investigation may have been cut short by the shooter firing his weapon, so the counter sniper then fired as quickly as possible in return.
The source praised the counter sniper who acquired the target and responded within three seconds, calling their performance “incredible.”
“The counter snipers are highly trained and extremely accurate,” he said.]
The source is the Sniper himself. He made the statement yesterday. I’ll try to find it.
I’m not sure that he fired the shot that killed the assassin but He had his eyes on the target for 3 minutes and I don’t believe the SS had any snipers on any roofs. Did you see those SS agents? It looked like the female versions of the 3 stooges.
I don't believe the SS had any snipers on any roof. It was local LE that had the snipers.
A commenter who spent time in war zones makes a few points:
We’ve all seen this photo by now of the sniper taking his view off of the scope. Hesitating.
Honestly? I probably would have done the same in that situation. I will explain.
Think about it. You’re not in Syria. You’re on sniper duty at a political rally in the US. You usually don’t have threats. Whatever “threats” you do have are usually an unruly Bernie Bro that venue security can just throw out and Secret Service doesn’t even need to get involved
Then you see something. Looks like a gun. Better get this right! We all remember what happened to Derek Chauvin. (Sticks head up, looks to confirm) Imagine shooting an unarmed civilian because you *thought* you saw a gun. Seriously, imagine the news stories the next day.
You’ve heard of fight or flight, but there is a third option: freeze. You’re not in Syria or Iraq. It’s not that kind of rules of engagement. What do you do? Better get this right
Then the shots confirm what you saw, and you return fire. All this thought process happens in about 3 seconds if you watch the clip. It’s easy to pick about that clip now but at the time...nobody was even watching. They were listening to the Trump speech. That was it.
Again, you’re probably not going to like my take. I don’t really like it either. It’s the kind of thing that training is supposed to fix. But I also understand.
You get this one wrong, you’re doing a life sentence.
Before someone says “but qualified immunity”, look, he gets this shot wrong, the first news headline is “TRUMP BODYGUARDS MURDERING INNOCENT MINORITY WOMEN AND CHILDREN” and connect the dots on how the DOJ will respond.]
Another item in the s.s. failure box........
...we are dealing with evil.
We need to stop trying to rationalize/ignore this cancer, and start removing it.
...before it does the same to us.
So, while hanging from a ladder with one hand, you would pull your pistol out of it's holster, disengage the safety, raise the pistol above you and holding it with only one hand, fire at the suspect who had a rifle already pointed at your head ?
I think you are overestimating your abilities (and your courage). Try raising a pistol above your head and firing with one hand with your hand cocked at at 90 degree angle. I don't think you will find it 'surprisingly easy'.
