Family is valued waaaaay above 'fellow countrymen' - which is why Hamas fighters can hide behind the children of other Muslims and not care if those children die. Or are blown up.
What "over matters" in Muslim cultures is 'family'. So as awful and inhumane as it might seem - there would be many fewer deaths, damage, and property destruction if Israel and Western cultures attacked the families of Middle Eastern terrorists. Mothers, fathers, uncles, brothers, great uncles etc etc etc. It's the other reason Hamas can let the folks in Gaza starve to death - it's NOT their families doing without. It's hard for westerners to wrap their minds around this culture difference.
It's also the reason Muslims will cut in line at a McDonalds but take off a month from work if a honored member of their own family is coming for a visit. Different cultures. Different values, different ways call for different ways to wage wars...
