I don’t exactly know what you mean by this.

There was a time when a woman’s pregnancy especially those of the wealthy upper classes, was something to be hidden away from “polite society” even that of a married woman. She was expected to hide away during the late stages of her pregnancy and not engage in social gatherings.

Manners is one thing, but it and the definition of it has changed over time.

At one time if a higher-class woman who were pregnant, as soon as she was “showing” she was put away and out of “public” view. But for common and working-class women, they kept working right up util she gave birth and was expected to return to work shortly after.
