Four more Democrats in Congress call for Biden to step aside in the 2024 race

WASHINGTON — Four additional Democrats in Congress told their lawmaker colleagues during a phone call Sunday that they believe President Joe Biden should step aside to allow someone else to be the party’s nominee for president, according to multiple people on the call and familiar with the discussion.

The House Democrats who said Biden should drop out of the race were Adam Smith of Washington, Jerry Nadler of New York, Mark Takano of California and Joe Morelle of New York.

All four lawmakers hold top positions on key committees and bring the number of Democrats in Congress who have called for Biden to reconsider his bid for president to nearly a dozen.

Smith is the top Democrat on the Armed Services Committee. Similar positions are held by Nadler on the Judiciary Committee, Takano on the Veterans’ Affairs Committee and Morelle on the House Administration Committee.

The four lawmakers and the Biden campaign did not immediately provide comments on the call.

The conversation took place Sunday afternoon during a call convened by House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York. During the call, which lasted over an hour, Biden’s future as the leader of the party was heavily called into question, according to the sources.

Each lawmaker was given a chance to speak in order of seniority. Even those who did not explicitly call on Biden to bow out expressed concerns that he is not the strongest candidate to beat former President Donald Trump in November, additional sources said.

There was an overwhelming sense among lawmakers that Vice President Kamala Harris would be a better nominee than Biden and that she would be the obvious choice to replace Biden should he exit the race, the additional sources said.

Jeffries’ office declined to comment on the call.

"So it took only THREE members of his minority party to get him to resign"

More to it than that. It was clear that if he didn't resign he was going to be impeached.

Ted Lieu is now denying Wash. Post reporting that he was demanding Biden step down. Party Implosion is probably right as some people will not know what side to take, some voices will get loud others choose to stay silent. May you live in interesting times

The problem with your argument is that everyone knows Biden is not going to finish his term. A vote for Biden is a vote for Harris. That is baked into the cake so the polls already reflect that. But if Harris were actually the nominee, she would be able to nominate a new vp, and the media would portray her as completely different from Biden. Biden’s record is pathetic, but Harris has no record.

if biden gets eased aside, harris is primarily viewed as the political equivalent as a pinch-hitter, good for a pinch of time —but not much more (in the public eye).

i would suggest considering the current democrat party as controlled by the WEF, mainland chinese, or a transitory federation consisting of both.

the ruthlessness of these entities is well understood to anyone paying attention.

biden will be given an ultimatum, soon— depart with honor or depart feet first, with his entire family facing DOJ felony charges. biden chooses life, honor, and family, with the proviso that he can sign a full blanket pardon for himself and everyone in his family. this would clear the path for harris to step in, possibly before the convention.

harris steps in, refuses to debate trump. being only a pinch hitter, she appoints political heavy-hitter hillary as VP. she does not do much campaigning, leaving it to the abovementioned nefarious federation to take care of trump by any means necessary.

soon, harris is also dragged into a back room and told to step down or else. hillary ascends the throne.

the main problem is trump. how would the nation handle the political disappearance of the current front runner?

if trump is “taken out” that would increase the political body count from 2 to 3 in the space of months— during an election year...

interesting times.

There is a reason why Kamala dropped out before the first primary in 2020, despite having everything going for her in Democrats’ eyes—female, black (or at least having a smidgen of African ancestry), dishonest, hypocritical, sleazy.

Trump needs to pick someone who would be seen as potentially being a good President if something were to happen to him—and someone the Left hates almost as much as they do Trump.

I have no argument. I agree with you despite making no sense.

But this was after the 1972 election Nixon won, same with Johnson, he didn’t run for reelection b4 the 1968 primary. Joey already won all the dem primary votes.

#9: "Harris can be defeated but not as easily as Biden."

Probably true. I say keep Slow Joe.

And they keep passing Harris off as a Negro. But she has less Negro in her than halfrican-in-chief Obozo. Harris's mother is from India. Her father is a mulatto from Jamaica. At best she is about 1/4 Negro. Harris is married to a White man.

Yesterday I saw Harris standing around with a group of "sistahs". Harris is definitely lighter skinned than the rest of the group. I think she claims to be a Negro in order to reap the benefits.

Biden may be willing to step aside but Dr. Jill has other ideas.

Maybe the Democrats can just nominate Jill instead of Joe. Not much would change in the White House.

“I lived through those times.”

Me, too. I didn’t pay a whole lot of attention other than hearing the nonstop bleat of “Constitutional Crisis!!” from the MSM. In 2024, it seems like they created “Our Democracy” to replace “Constitutional Crisis” since the commies want to destroy the Constitution.

I was 22, five years older than you. And I agree that’s when I learned to hate the biased media. They were in full-throated Hate Nixon mode with no unbiased reporting.
