Exactly. It’s called revisionist history. I could not find a single search return mentioning that Rush ever said it at all, so am I to believe that it came from The Forehead, even though I literally heard it on the radio from Rush starting in the 1980s? Please.

Begforehead is quoted as saying “he probably heard it in a bar somewhere.” That's probably true; probably someone quoting Rush.
