President Joe Biden’s first televised interview since last week’s debate meltdown did little to stop the bleeding.
Members of Congress and top Democratic operatives told POLITICO shortly after Biden’s sit down with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos aired that the president was more energetic and forceful than he was on stage during last week’s showdown with Donald Trump — but it likely won’t be enough to tame the panic.
And many were shocked by the president’s blatant denial about his standing in the race, and his repeated dismissal of his party’s widespread concerns. It’s an approach some Democrats described as “dangerous.”
“He was more animated and made a strong case for what he has done. But the question the debate raised is about his fitness for the next four years, not his performance in the past four years,” said David Axelrod, the longtime Democratic operative who helped lead Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns. “And he simply doesn’t acknowledge that concern. He also is in denial about where he is in this race.”
A House Democrat, granted anonymity to speak candidly, said: “Denial of the problem is not a solution or a path forward to convincing our constituents that he has the capacity or the vision for four more years.”
And another Democratic operative who has advised the White House called the interview a “stay of execution” but added that the president’s “acceptance of losing to Trump as long as he tried his best will make his hand significantly worse with every Democratic office holder who does not want to lose their seat.”

I’m skeptical that Trump can get a win beyond the margin of the ‘Rat cheat.

It will take large scale cheating well beyond the 6 Counties/States of 2020, but the ‘Rats are likely up to it.

Biden has the delegates and the cash. Once Biden made clear he wasn’t quitting, Democrats should have circled the wagons. Instead, they’re doing the circular firing squad. While gratifying, it’s mind-boggling. If Biden quits the race, the Dems are worse off.
Here is how and why, without a miracle, the Democrats are “checkmated” with regard to Biden…
Biden has made it VERY clear he isn’t withdrawing, so that’s obviously a massive problem right off the bat.
But it’s even worse than that for Dems.
Even if he was “convinced” to change his mind, there is no way that he would resign the presidency. It would be totally humiliating and prevent him from pardoning Hunter (Harris could promise to do so after the election, but that is very dicey).
Having Biden still be president while Harris was running against Trump (even if you assume that whole transition/nomination process goes off without total chaos/division) seems like a disaster waiting to happen. Harris would have all the disadvantages of Biden hanging around, and none of the advantages of incumbency. In fact, a diminished Biden preventing her from being president would make her look smaller every single day, sort of like Prince Charles near the end of Queen Elizabeth’s life.
But even if they somehow get Biden to resign from office (impossible?), that creates another problem in that it proves that there was a cover up to keep a man in the White House who admitted he didn’t have the mental capability to do the job (because he resigned before the end of his term!).
Not only that, but Harris was a big part of that cover up!
The media will do their best to find a path for Democrats to maneuver out of this “checkmate” position, but it is VERY difficult to see how they find a viable one, especially since Harris is such a terrible candidate, something Biden himself is currently admitting to by refusing to allow her to advance.
LBJ in his memoirs wrote: “VP Humphrey had none of the powers of the presidency working for him, and mounting dissatisfaction with my Administration working against him. He became a victim of those hard political facts.” And yes, that year’s DNC convention was in the same city as this year’s.
The media crusade against Biden is extremely short-sighted, given that they’re all in for the Democrats. I want to say they’ve given up on 2024, and are just milking Biden’s troubles for ratings. But these people really think Trump is literally Hitler. So tearing down the stronger of the two feasible candidates, Joe obviously being superior to Kamala, seems like self-sabotage. At any rate, never let it be said that journalists are deep thinkers
The only thing I can sense is that Obama is trying to get rid of Biden. But it's not working.

Biden is digging in BECAUSE people with dementia have no idea they are sick AND they become damn stubborn, my mom passed 3 years ago of this disease it was during Covid I refused to put her into assisted living because they would not allow visitors ect. I closed up my home and moved in with her, bringing her into my home would have confused her even more as the disease progressed!! My mom thought she was perfectly fine AND became unbelievably stubborn taking care of her during this time was the MOST difficult task I have ever accomplished in my life, she was a child at 89 years old!! It took me an entire year to decompress , sleep at night again, stop feeling I had to watch everything going on around me, she would argue with me about EVERYTHING especially not being able to drive!! OMG I can’t even imagine the staff in that WH dealing with him AND having to LIE about it all!!
The reality is they can’t force him out if he doesn’t want to go.
