An immigrant from another country who becomes an "acting" interim judge appointed by other judges to fill a temporary shortage in a county court who then jails the leading candidate in the next Presidential election is not going to be received well.
Merchan would quickly become the face of massive liberal overreach and will forever be associated with bringing literal "banana republic" justice to the United States.
