I well remember the once great BBC when I lived in the UK (48 years ago) and worked on all continents except Australia and Antarctica. Their presenters read the news and did not make opinions on the news on the air or in public. I am sure they did in private. They were called newsreaders as they just read the news presented them by the BBC news staff. They did not give their own opinions on the air.

When in remote locations of the world doing oil exploration drilling, I would tune into the BBC World News on my short wave radio and would hear fair and balanced news. I followed the Falkland War on the BBC short wave offshore the Nigerian coast courtesy of the BBC shortwave. I knew as much as anyone in London or New York. They also had guests on for commentary and they called it commentary with great back and forth arguments between hosts and guests.

BBC still exists, but today it is no longer great and if a political subject it is opinion presented as news. They are still pretty good at non political news but that is all. Climate change is political. Their news on this subject is of no worth.

This once great institution is no more. This is sad and it is a failed institution today.

Yep, I used to listen to the BBC World Service all the time in my shortwave days.
